Online Safety - Parent/Carer Support
At Silloth Primary School, keeping children safe online is a vital part of our safeguarding responsibility. The new Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE 2025) guidance makes clear that schools must:
-
Teach children how to stay safe online.
-
Provide regular staff and governor training on online safety.
-
Assess online risks annually and ensure policies cover filtering and monitoring of technology.
-
Support families with practical advice to help keep children safe at home.
To support us in meeting these requirements, we subscribe to Knowsley City Learning Centre (CLC) for their Online Safety Services.
Knowsley CLC was established in 1999 and works with schools, academies, teachers, and learners of all ages across the UK. Their small, friendly team is passionate about using technology to inspire and engage children in their learning. As a not-for-profit organisation, they are committed to helping children develop the essential digital skills they will need for the future.
Through our subscription, Silloth Primary benefits from:
-
Monthly Online Safety Newsletters – shared with parents via ParentMail, our Facebook page, and our school newsletter.
-
An Annual Parental Controls Booklet – offering practical step-by-step guidance to help keep children safe online.
-
Staff and Governor Briefings – ensuring all adults in school are kept up to date with the latest online safety issues and risks.
By working with Knowsley CLC, we ensure our pupils, families, staff, and governors are supported with the knowledge, skills, and resources they need to stay safe in the digital world.
